UN Day 77: Toronto Partners for the Goals
To mark the 77th anniversary of the United Nations, UNACTO held UN Day 77: Toronto Partners for the Goals, to bring together a diverse set of organizations, groups and individuals that are actively working towards the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This gathering was in support of the UN Member States’ common agenda, reaffirming the purposes and principles of the UN Charter that have guided us for the past 77 years in reaching our shared global goals of peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet.
In 1945, representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco at the UN Conference on International Organization to draw up the UN Charter. The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter had been ratified by a majority of signatories.
