My Future:

Youth Art Challenge for


About the Challenge

We're asking Toronto youth (10 - 17 years old) to use their creativity to support UNACTO’s efforts towards greater global dialogue and action by submitting a piece of artwork that best communicates the future they want to see while considering the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, including:
  • Greater equality within and among countries

  • Better environmental protection

  • Better access to healthcare

  • More respect for human rights

  • Better access to education


All artwork submissions must be digital. Acceptable art submission formats include, but are not limited to:

  • Creative writing: poems, short stories

  • Music or spoken word performances/audio recordings

  • Dance and dramatic performances

  • Digital illustrations

  • Photography​

  • Traditional media such as paintings, woodwork, sculpture, textile, etc. Clear photos of these pieces will have to be provided

Selection of Winners and Prizes

Three winners will be chosen by the UNACTO President, Irene Kashelsky, and recognized across UNACTO’s social media channels and website. Winners will be awarded and receive a signed letter of congratulations.

How to Enter

The challenge launches on 18 September 2020. Submissions may be submitted between 18 September 2020 and 30 April 2021. 
  • Submissions must be sent to with a signed Parent/Guardian Waiver found here.

  • Include "My Future Art Challenge Submission" in the email header.

  • All artwork submitted must be in a digital format.

  • Once artwork is submitted, it is considered a final submission and may not be edited, modified or replaced.

  • Applicants must not submit more than one artwork submission.


Contest Rules

  • Contest participants must be 10  to 17 years old from Toronto or Greater Toronto Area.

  • All submissions must be submitted using the online submission form. A signed parental/guardian consent waiver must be included.

  • By participating in the My Future: Youth Art Challenge for UN75, you acknowledge that your submission may be used for promotion purposes.

  • All entries become the permanent property of the My Future: Youth Art Challenge for UN75 organizers.

  • Any and all submissions must be completely the entrants intellectual and artistic property. If detected, plagiarism in any form is grounds for disqualification. 

  • At any point in the Contest, an entrant may be disqualified if the entrant is unable to meet the requirements in a timely manner. Entrants may also be disqualified, or Award will be retrieved if it is determined that the nomination form misrepresents the entrant.
