UNA-Canada is seeking a logo design for the Youth Navigate the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action programme!

13 Jul 2018

About the Program

Youth Navigate the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action (YNTRC) will engage youth 15-25 years of age in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to examine the Truth and

Reconciliation Calls to Action (TRC) and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of

Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). The objective is to increase understanding of the evolving

identity of Canada with the goal of harmonious diversity and inclusion.

The project will assist youth to examine the TRC Calls to Action through empathy-based

learning approaches, as a means of heightening their awareness and appreciation of the

traditional role of Aboriginal cultures, values and resilience. UNA-Canada sees this project

as a way of increasing understanding of diverse cultures, and prompting Canada’s youth to

become champions of reconciliation and bridge-builders for the future.

Requirements

The design should reflect the youth-led aspect, as well as the themes of education and

community, and the underlying understanding of Aboriginal history and cultures.

UNA-Canada suggests that interested candidates examine the 94 Truth and Reconciliation

Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to

help inspire a logo design.

First Nations, Inuit and Métis students and youth are encouraged to submit designs that incorporate traditional and cultural styles into the artwork.

Submissions & Selection

Designs must be submitted to Celeste Lessard-Kragen, Project Officer by email before 5:00 p.m. EST on 10 August 2018 at celeste.lessard-kragen@unac.org.

The artist of the chosen design will be contacted shortly afterward. All submissions will be reviewed and the chosen artist will receive $150 for the design.
