International Women's Day 2018 - #TimeIsNow

8 Mar 2018

International Women’s Day on 8 March comes at a time of momentous change. Following the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements that emerged from across the border and found footing even here in Canada, it could not be any more clear that the time for global action towards equality is here.

That is what the UN intends to incite with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.

This year the UN is using International Women’s Day to not only acknowledge the strides women in urban environments have made, but to also draw attention to women living in rural communities. Rural women make up more than a quarter of the world’s population and 43 percent of global agricultural labour, yet face numerous inequalities and inadequate standards of living.

On this International Women’s Day, celebrate the progress made and make a promise to do even better, for women everywhere.

The #TimeIsNow.
