UNACTO marks Human Rights Day 2017

19 Dec 2017

On 16 December, UNACTO held a discussion about ending child enslavement featuring award-winning author and journalist, Judie Oron. The event was lead by UNACTO Human Rights Committee Co-Chair, Hyona Park and UNACTO President, Jasmine Jackman.

Judie shared with guests her experience in Ethiopia that led her to Wuditu, a child slave, whom she later adopted.

UNACTO was also pleased to present a video message from Bessma Momani, Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo and the Balsillie School of International Affairs on human trafficking in Libya. Nur Hasim, President of Canadian Burmese Rohingya Organization (CBRO) was also in attendance and provided an overview of the Rohingya refugee crisis.
