October 24, 2015 marks the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations – created in 1945 to “save succeeding generations from the scourge of war – to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights – and to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom”. To mark this important landmark date UNA-Canada is convening a public panel, with leaders of various UN Agencies headquartered in Canada, to explore the ways in which the UN remains relevant to us all as Canadians and as members of the global community.

Hosted by Kathryn White, President & CEO of UNA-Canada, along with Syed Khusro, President of our Toronto Branch, the panel will include representatives from:

· the International Civil Aviation Organization

· the UN High Commissioner for Refugees

· UNICEF Canada

· the Canadian Commission for UNESCO

· the Convention on Biological Diversity

· the UNU International Network on Water, Environment and Health
