A Panel Discussion for the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Rwanda Genocide

UNACTO welcomes you to join a panel discussion on War, Human Rights and Child Soldiers, in remembrance of the victims of war and genocide, and in specific remembrance for the victims of the Rwandan genocide.

 

Panelists will discuss their experiences and perspectives on how the United Nations and other global institutions respond to the issue. Panelists to include:

 

Jasteena Dhillon is a Professor of Law in the Paralegal program at Humber College and the University of Windsor Faculty of Law teaching domestic law and international law courses. Prior, she was a research fellow at Harvard Kennedy School on the conflict and rule of law and before that she headed up a project for NATO Allied Command Transformation in Virginia on Civil Military Relations. In her global postings for the UN, OSCE and international NGO's she has worked in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Iraq and Sudan. She has worked primarily on human rights, rule of law, international development, traditional justice, gender and civil-military relations. Jasteena is a subject matter expert and facilitator for NATO, Canadian Military and Pearson Centre on strategic planning for field operations.

 

Jake Davis is an Associate Professor for the Police Foundations Program and for the Protection, Security and Investigations Program at Humber College. He served with the US Marines for approximately five years in Iraq. His interests and experience lies in security studies, military history and political science. He also provides training and instruction to colleges and universities across Ontario on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

 

Panel discussion will begin at 6:30pm in rooms 308 and 309, Metro Hall, 55 John Street, Toronto. Closest Subway Station is St. Andrews Station. Admission is free.
